But for the actions of a reckless driver nearly hitting Mr. Pond and his family, there would be no incident. The entrepreneur was in Telluride last October with his family for a wedding. When he and his family were walking back to their hotel, a woman driving in excess of the speed limit veered towards Mr. Pond, his wife, and their two small children—her car coming within two feet of them and frightening the family. The driver did not stop to see whether Mr. Pond and his family were injured, continuing to speed off.

Eater spoke with the yet-to-be-named new owners yesterday, who say they have every intention of keeping the Hudson House spirit alive from the food to the ambiance, once it is safe to do so again. Back in Los Angeles, this first Hudson House is just one step into the Southern California market for the group.

To enroll, students must have graduated high school or received their GED; be 18 years old by the end of the program; demonstrate basic algebra and English skills; and be comfortable working with machinery in an industrial environment. Hudson House comes from Vandelay Hospitality as the group’s first entry into the LA market. When Hudson House opens next Monday, January 30, expect an interior that transports one to New York City or Boston with heavy dark wood accents, plaids, and leather booths. But outside, it’ll be hard to forget this is still West Hollywood, with plants placed strategically to help shield diners from the hustle and bustle of Sunset Boulevard. Graduates are qualified for jobs as CNC operators and entry-level programmers, machinist apprentices, and machine trainees, among other titles and positions. They are also supported throughout the program by Hudson Valley’s Center for Access and Assistive Technology, which offers comprehensive support services for more than 600 students with disabilities studying at the college each year.
Hudson House goes big on its open raw bar featuring oysters, seafood towers, sushi, and shrimp cocktails. Appetizers go heavy on big salads, cauliflower bites, and a Nantucket chowder using freshly shucked clams. In addition to the technical skills taught as part of the Academy, students receive non-credit-bearing job-readiness training, including resume creation, participation in mock interviews, and soft skills training. They complete the program with a finished resume in hand and job interviews scheduled, and are able to keep the items they make during their time in the program. Phillip’s chiffon dress featured a floor-sweeping hem and a pleated maxi skirt with a metallic pattern.
Subsequently, at their hotel, Mr. Pond saw the same woman stopping in front of his hotel and exiting her vehicle. Their newest location on Sunset in Weho gives off old-school New York bistro energy, and we’d recommend it to anyone in need of a solid Happy Hour. The swanky dining room is filled with dark-wood surfaces, blue leather booths, and the musical stylings of Frank Sinatra.

Starting January 30, Hudson House is open Monday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m. Overall it’s an unfussy and familiar menu serving traditional American fare. Of course, there’s a fish of the day along with crab cake and maple-plank salmon.
